History
Tunjuk Ajar is a Malay term that denotes a broad spectrum of values, including advice, guidance, counsel, trusted wisdom, instruction, and exemplary conduct that contribute to the betterment of human life. Linguistically, tunjuk ajar is a compound expression derived from two elements: tunjuk, meaning “to show” or “to indicate,” and ajar, meaning “instruction intended to be understood and followed.”
Tunjuk Ajar: Journal of Education and Culture is a peer-reviewed academic journal published biannually (June and December) by the Tuah Foundation. The journal is devoted to examining the dynamic interplay between education and culture within diverse and evolving societal contexts. It serves as a scholarly platform for the dissemination of high-quality research, theoretical analyses, and innovative practices in the fields of education and cultural studies.
The journal welcomes contributions addressing a wide range of topics, including teaching and learning methodologies, curriculum development, educational policy, assessment and evaluation, as well as cultural studies encompassing traditions, arts, languages, history, and local wisdom. Particular emphasis is placed on the role of culture in enriching educational practices and shaping learners’ character and identity.
By promoting interdisciplinary dialogue, the journal seeks to advance scholarly understanding and foster the integration of educational and cultural perspectives at both local and global levels. Contributions from educators, researchers, and practitioners are highly encouraged.
